Ok, first of all thank you Google for finally getting a SYNC system (called ActiveSync) for the iPhone to work with my aps acccount. Secondly, what the hell took you so long? Since purging myself of the 'Microsoft Office Suite' and going to Google Aps, I have been longing to have my iPhone Calendar sync with my Google Calendar and they have finally done it. They cheated and just used the Microsoft Exchange settings. What can I say..beggers can't be choosers and I have been begging for this since about November when I dropped Outlook. So here are some of the highs and the lows

Highlights of the Google Aps and iPhone Sync:

• Auto sync within minutes of creating the appointment on either the website or the iphone to the other one.
• Wireless sync ability without needing an Exchange Server (for those of you not using Google Aps already).
• Syncs Google Contacts, Google Calendar, and Google Mail through one account setting.
• You can pick and choose with services to sync.
• Very easy to setup, see the instructions here for Syncing iPhone to Google Aps.

Lowlights of the Google Aps and iPhone Sync:

• I have several different Google Calendars on my account (Work, Wife, Kids, Play) and it will only sync the main category.
• First Sync will erase all of the Contacts and Appointments from the phone and overwrite with the Google Data (make a backup!!).
• Since this is not using a true 'Push' service it is contantly pinging the server and kills your battery.
• Syncing more that one iPhone creates big issues and the system gets confused about what is new data vs old data.
• I seem to be having a recurring issue with the iPhone setting the wrong date on new appointments once in a while.
• Still no support for Google Documents, Google Talk, or Sticky Notes

Conclusion:

Use it, especially if you are only using Google Aps for your calendar right now....hopefully all the bugs worked out soon. After all they are still in Beta and Google can sometimes redoes stuff to make it better (sarcasm, SEO guys will understand).
